After-School Program Teachers (Multiple Openings)
About the role
Part-time afternoon position supporting elementary and middle school students in homework, enrichment, and fun. Teachers will be assigned to a specific grade-level class and conduct a daily activity following a provided lesson plan. Lessons and activities include reading, athletics, logic games, art, music, etc. Great Hearts Academies is a non-profit network of charter schools dedicated to improving education by developing excelling public schools. We prepare our graduates for success in the best colleges and universities in the nation, but our main purpose is the formation of the soul, heart, and mind. We believe that the highest goal of education is to become good, intellectually, and morally.
Responsibilities
- Support elementary and middle school students with homework, enrichment, and fun activities.
- Assigned to a specific grade-level class and conduct daily activities following provided lesson plans.
- Lead lessons in reading, athletics, logic games, art, music, and similar enrichment areas.
- Travel locally for training and professional development opportunities as needed.
Requirements
- Complete Texas Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance and background check; employment contingent upon successful clearance.
- Be at least 18 years of age by the start date.
- Ability to perform physical functions including standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, reaching, and moving or positioning equipment up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Possess US work authorization.
- Willingness to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Some college education, preferably with an education or liberal arts major.
- Experience working with children.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lead and teach children effectively.
