About the role

This is a part-time After School teaching position. Teachers help facilitate our After-School Programming by supervising students, helping run clubs, and assisting students in building meaningful relationships with the world around them. Explorations serves students who attend the Lower School at The Providence Country Day School in East Providence, RI, and their families during the school year only.

Work hours are up to 15 per week (up to 3 hours per day), typically Monday through Friday from 2:45pm–5:45pm. The role is supervised by the Explorations Director and the leadership team at The Providence Country Day School.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains classrooms and community spaces used by each grade level
  • Follows Curriculum and Activity Guidelines set forth by the Explorations Director
  • Picks students up from classrooms and helps them safely get to their Explorations room
  • Assists with student check-in and dismissal, including checking adult identification
  • Builds positive relationships with families using Explorations
  • Supervises children during after-school activities
  • Runs clubs for students to explore different interests
  • Handles housekeeping duties for the playground, gym, classrooms, and other used spaces
  • Facilitates snack times and follows bathroom policies
  • Assists in other capacities as determined by the Director
  • Observes all policies and practices of Providence Country Day School and regulatory agencies pertaining to health, safety, and care of children
  • Maintains professional personal appearance
  • Provides support to the summer program if scheduled
  • Performs related duties as required
  • Embraces the diversity of the PCD community by fostering respect, inclusion, and equity
  • Engages in professional growth opportunities and collaborates with team members
  • Partners with families to support student success while respecting diverse backgrounds
  • Creates an environment of respect and rapport with students, parents, and colleagues

Requirements

  • Must have experience working with children
  • Must be willing to learn
  • Must be pursuing higher education

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certified
  • Experience in camps or with children and families
  • Ability to be flexible

Schedule
