About the role
The Chico Area Recreation & Park District is hiring Inclusion Leaders to support 1st - 5th grade students with diverse support needs in an after-school program setting. Ideal candidates are passionate about working with children with disabilities or high support needs, promoting inclusion through encouragement, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct support for behavioral, social, and/or sensory regulation
- Adapt and modify activities and materials to meet individual needs
- Monitor and address triggers, stress points, and safety
- Assist with academics, recreation, and activities in a safe, engaging environment
- Collaborate with recreation leaders to support behavior and modify activities
- Foster connections and inclusion in group activities
- Calm and effectively respond to stressful or challenging situations
Who We're Looking For
- Experience working with children living with disabilities or high support needs
- Reliable, responsible, energetic, enthusiastic
- Passionate about creating inclusive environments for all participants
- Quick-thinking and able to make sound decisions in the moment
- Adaptable and able to pivot when situations, schedules, or participant needs change
Schedule
Monday–Friday, approx. 1:30–5:45 PM. Substitute positions available ("on-call", flexible days).
Work Location
Elementary schools throughout Chico
Pay & Benefits
- Seasonal, $17.50 - $18.50/hr
- 40 hours of sick leave per year accrued at 2.8hrs per pay period
- All unused hours are rolled over on January 1st up to a cap of 80 hours
