About the role

JCC Greater Boston is seeking part-time After-School Program Educators for our 2026-2027 after-school enrichment program. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about making a positive impact on children's lives. As an After-School Educator, you will play a key role in creating engaging and supportive experiences for children enrolled in Discovery Club, an active and entertaining after-school program for students in grades K-5.

Responsibilities

  • Foster creative and vibrant classrooms in a safe and enriching environment.
  • Interact with children and create and lead engaging experiences for children in grades K-5 (ages 5-11).
  • Support and implement robust social-emotional learning, Jewish experiential learning, and general enrichment with the guidance of Discovery Club Leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Early Education & Care (EEC) policies and regulations.
  • Actively create a welcoming dynamic environment where each individual is valued and respected.
  • Support JCC Greater Boston’s mission, vision, and values, including through personal role modeling.
  • Attend JCC meetings and actively participate in the department's goals and initiatives.
  • Participate as a team member in Family Programming meetings and training.
  • Communicate effectively with Discovery Club leadership and team staff.
  • Complete orientation and onboarding prior to being in the classroom.
  • Perform other responsibilities and tasks as needed.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Nine months of experience working with children OR
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with children OR
  • An associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus 3 months of experience working with children.
  • Must pass state-mandated CORI/SORI/DCF/fingerprinting background check.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

  • Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to keep a classroom orderly.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work well in person in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing 30-40 pounds (e.g., boxes of supplies, children’s backpacks).
  • Able to sit and kneel; getting down at eye level with children regularly.

Pay

Competitive starting pay rate of $20–$23 per hour. The pay rate offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC's internal equity.

Schedule

  • Part-time, non-exempt position with +/- 5-20 hours per week.
  • Work schedule typically 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and 12:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. each Wednesday.
  • Follows a school-year calendar (September – June), with some onboarding and orientation/training in August.
