About the role
New York Edge is seeking a passionate, mission-driven team-builder to fill the After School Program Director role. In this full-time role, you will be accountable for the growth, quality, and success of the assigned after-school program operation, its students, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversees program staff, program operations, services, and implements programs and/or processes to provide services within established timeframes and in compliance.
- Counsels staff on program operations and provides feedback, goal setting, and assessment of competencies in the role.
- Communicates regularly with supervisor on program updates, progress, and needs.
- Coordinates outreach to the community and presents on the program to actively recruit participants.
- Prepares various documents and reports (e.g., attendance, daily activities, daily program content, program design, etc.) for internal and external reporting.
- Provides weekly individual supervision to each staff member with feedback, goal setting, and assessment of competencies in the role.
- Safeguards all program compliance, including but not limited to student registration, staff documents, ratios, attendance tracking, IDs, and building permits.
- Collaborates with the Program Manager, Borough Director, and New York Edge Curriculum and Training Departments to develop and implement monthly all-staff professional development workshops/seminars.
- Collaborates with the Principal and Assistant Principals on program delivery to align with goals with student achievement and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work.
- At least 18.0 credit hours from an accredited college or university in the field of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in urban education, youth development or community organizing with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth & adolescents in New York City.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of New York City and New York State education requirements in an urban setting.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person, virtually and over the phone, applying tact and discretion as situations demand.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflow, while maintaining a positive, patient and calm demeanor, and establishing a positive team spirit with staff, students, and entire school community.
- Knowledge of after-school programs, supervising staff, and program planning.
- Ability to de-escalate potentially risky or difficult situations.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Pay
$58,500 - $62,500 (salary offer will be commensurate with experience and education)
Schedule
Monday-Friday (Days/shifts vary depending on site needs)
