After School Program Counselor

Essential Functions

  • Lead a group of children in After-School program activities.
  • Guide/help the children adjust and grow within the program guidelines.
  • Plan and implement daily curriculum for children to follow.
  • Observe student behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce safety regulations, and apply behavior management techniques.
  • Guide any member with behavior, attitude, or emotional problems, referring serious problems to the Childcare Director.
  • Absorb and assist with all After-School Program activities and other activities as assigned.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and discipline of children, area, and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Education or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Basic childcare skills.

Skills & Competencies

  • Skills in problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with groups of participants (age and skill level), and provide necessary instruction to children.
