After School Counselor
About the role
We are seeking ministry-minded individuals to join our After School team. The After School Counselor’s primary role is fostering youth development in an after-school setting by leading elementary students in enrichment activities. This is a non-exempt, part-time position averaging 17–20 hours per week during the school calendar year.
At Mentoring Alliance After School, we hire teachers, youth workers, teen workers, college students, mentors, and more to serve and develop kids in our programs. As a Christian ministry, we are geared toward serving kids and students in our community by offering awesome after-school care and activities. Mentoring Alliance exists to mobilize godly people into the lives of kids and families, to provide tangible help and eternal hope.
We consider an After School Counselor to be first and foremost a Minister of the Gospel. This role offers the chance to have an eternal impact and be a role model to kids in your community.
Responsibilities
- Lead elementary students in enrichment activities in an after-school setting.
- Foster youth development with a focus on excellence and wholeheartedness.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to kids in the community.
Requirements
- Agree with and exhibit behaviors in accordance with the Mentoring Alliance Statement of Faith.
- Must be at least 17 years of age; High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred, and some post-secondary training highly preferred.
- Pass a mandatory background and sex offender check.
- Valid driver’s license or valid ID.
- Legally allowed to work in the United States.
- Have dependable transportation.
- Able to work Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. during the school calendar year.
- Ability to earn CPR/First Aid certification (mandatory).
Qualifications
- Passion and love for working with elementary school-aged children.
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children is preferred.
- Spanish-speaking ability is greatly valued.
