After School Peer Mentor

About the role

Salt Lake County Youth Services provides support to schools and families through Afterschool Programs, Summer Programming, and Parental Support. Programs are offered on-site at schools in Kearns, Magna, West Valley City, and Millcreek. Goals include keeping kids safe, providing healthy role models, teaching new skills, and boosting youth confidence through various enrichment activities.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with youth from diverse backgrounds in a school setting to provide a safe and healthy environment
• Use Positive Behavior Support techniques to mentor youth
• Assist with daily activities such as STEM, Arts and Culture, Character Education, Healthy Living, and College and Career Exploration

• Must be at least 15 years old

Benefits

• Pay range: $13.65 - $14.50 per hour
• Tiers based on experience and training completion

Pay

• Tier 1: No experience ($13.65/hr.)
• Tier 2: After 90 days and/or upon completion of up to 10 hours of required trainings ($14.00/hr.)
• Tier 3: 1+ year experience and upon completion of ALL required trainings ($14.50/hr.)

Schedule

• Varies based on location following a school year calendar
• Afternoons Monday-Thursday for 3+ hours, plus planning, training, and prep time for about 15-20 hours a week
• Monday -- Thursday 200pm -- 530pm and Fridays 1200pm -- 400pm, hours may vary depending upon program
