After School Music/Band Instructor [SY26-27]

About the role

We are seeking a specialist to provide instruction in Music/Band at Prospect Schools. The ideal candidate will specialize in leading collaborative songwriting, organizing performances, developing band instrumental skills, enhancing stage presence, conducting choirs, and collaborating with drama instructors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of up to 15 students during after-school programming.
• Plan and facilitate engaging lessons and enrichment activities, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs and interests.
• Establish learning objectives, monitor student progress, and support skill development through project-based activities.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and character development.
• Prepare classrooms and materials, maintain attendance records, and assist with daily program setup and cleanup.
• Implement safety protocols, including emergency procedures and evacuation drills.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust activities to maximize student engagement and outcomes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the After-School Program Director.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certifications or credentials in music/band disciplines are preferred.
• Prior experience working with youth in a classroom, enrichment, or after-school setting is preferred.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and group facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners and follow program schedules.
• A passion for music education and youth development; candidates qualified to lead instruction in multiple activities are preferred.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and clearances.

Benefits

The position offers a salary range of $25 - $35 per hour.

$25 - $35 per hour

Schedule

Typically 4:00–6:00 p.m., with program hours between 3:00–6:30 p.m.
