Job Summary

We're seeking qualified applicants for substitute After-School Leader positions with the County After-School Activities (CASA) program and Youth After-School (YAS) program. CASA and YAS are highly respected after-school programs serving Loudoun County's elementary and middle school-aged youth for over 30 years. Our team celebrates diversity, whether cultural, linguistic, or ability-related related to ensure every child feels welcome, respected, and included. An After-School Leader assists in the planning and implementation of recreational activities such as indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, holiday-themed and special projects, as well as quieter activities like snacks and homework time for children. A successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for working and nurturing youth. We are currently hiring for the following location(s): Positions are available at various sites in Loudoun County. Applicants must be willing to work at multiple programming sites. Options are listed in the supplemental questions of the application.

Responsibilities

  • Lead recreational programs for children by following curriculum, complying with safety compliance standards, training, performance, and conflict resolution applications.
  • Facilitate activities, group games, and reading time following curriculum plans and the needs of the children.
  • Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and assist with daily health checks, handle food service items, and emergency procedures.
  • Other essential job duties relevant to the role and department may be required. *Please include all employment and volunteer experience working with or supervising children in childcare, recreation, and educational settings*

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent;
  • Six (6) months of programming experience with children. Applicants with no experience can also be hired at a lower grade 108 in an After-School Aide position if they meet the minimum 16 years of age requirement. Options are listed in the supplemental questions of the application

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

  • Must undergo pre-employment, criminal, and fingerprinting background checks.
  • Prior to employment, individuals must have First Aid (Infant through Adult) and CPR certifications, or obtain them within 30 days of starting their job.
  • Pass TB screening questions prior to hire and every two years thereafter.
  • A sworn disclosure statement or affirmation must be completed, revealing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges upon employment and every 5 years subsequently.
  • Bilingual abilities are desirable.
