Position Summary

Under the direction of the School Leader or other certificated employee, the Instructional Aide/After School Instructor will assist by performing a variety of instructional support duties to individual or small groups of students within the special education setting or regular classroom, during and after school hours. These duties shall be designed to complement the instructional program to maximize the learning opportunity for the inclusion student. The Instructional Aide will also assist in the establishment and implementation of appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior and perform a routine of clerical tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist by performing a variety of instructional support duties to individual or small groups of students within the special education setting or regular classroom, during and after school hours.
  • Complement the instructional program to maximize the learning opportunity for the inclusion student.
  • Aid in the establishment and implementation of appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior.
  • Perform a routine of clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Work directly with a group of 60-80 elementary school students, providing homework assistance, academic support and enrichment activities after school on site at KIPP Bayview Elementary.

Requirements

  • Candidate’s ability to establish authority through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience, is essential to success.
  • Must be able to commit to working throughout the entire school year.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children in a school or educational setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Passion for education and a commitment to supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $20.92 - $24.84 / hour. This rate, coupled with the additional 60 days of school break pay we offer, results in annualized pay that is, on average, significantly more than our district peers.

Schedule

This role is paid over a 12 month period, including scheduled school breaks and summer break.
