After School Dance Instructor [SY26-27]

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly qualified specialist to provide instruction in Dance. We are looking for a dance teacher who specializes in 1 or more of the following competencies:

• Lead instruction in various dance styles and methodologies from beginner to immediate level.
• Evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement.
• Choreograph routines and select music for recitals and concerts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of up to 15 students during after-school programming.
• Plan and facilitate engaging lessons and enrichment activities, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs and interests.
• Establish learning objectives, monitor student progress, and support skill development through project-based activities.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and character development.
• Prepare classrooms and materials, maintain attendance records, and assist with daily program setup and cleanup.
• Implement safety protocols, including emergency procedures and evacuation drills.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust activities to maximize student engagement and outcomes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the After-School Program Director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; certifications or credentials in dance disciplines are preferred.
• Availability to work late afternoons and/or evenings (typically 4:00–6:00 p.m., with program hours between 3:00–6:30 p.m.).
• Experience in one or more dance disciplines and prior experience working with youth in a classroom, enrichment, or after-school setting preferred.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and group facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners and follow program schedules.
• Passion for dance education and youth development; candidates qualified to lead instruction in multiple activities are preferred.

Salary

$25 - $35 per hour
