After School Counselor

About the role

The Kings Bay Y is seeking an After School Counselor who speaks Russian preferred. This position is Monday-Friday, 1:30 pm to 6 pm or 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The After-School Program provides various activities, quality programming, and individualized attention to children, offering free transportation and healthy snacks.

Responsibilities

• To ensure the daily and safe arrival of participants.
• To provide a warm and welcoming facility where children can feel safe and nurtured.
• To ensure daily attendance and roster changes are recorded.
• To assist in delivering daily healthy, nutritious lunches and/or snacks.
• To maintain a daily homework log for each participant.
• To ensure all unusual behavior is reported to the supervisor.
• To reinforce desirable behavior, not focusing on disruptive behavior, so all participants feel part of the program.
• To alert Supervisor if any kind of abuse/neglect of a child is suspected.
• To help ensure daily recreation and a positive experience for everyone.
• To provide recreational activities in a safe and nurturing environment.
• To participate in all activities and enrichment programs with the participants.
• To guide all activities that stimulate mind and body development.
• To help children develop their strengths through creative play, swimming, sports, dance, arts & crafts, storytime, and more.
• To attend monthly staff meetings and training sessions as needed.
• To engage into swimming and sports activities.

Requirements

• A background check (clearances will be done during the onboarding process).
• Must be 17 years or older.
• Valid ID.
• Resume.
• Cover letter.

Pay

$16.50 starting hourly rate – will vary based on experience.
