After School Child Care Worker (Positive Pay)

Job Summary

Provide continuous supervision and interaction with the children and to plan and participate in activities for small groups on a daily basis.

Essential Duties

• Arrive promptly and remain for the specified time.
• Supervise children constantly, never leaving them unattended.
• Aid children when necessary with hygiene needs.
• Aid children with assignments and activities.
• Coordinate planned activities as determined by the site supervisor.
• Distribute snacks, supplies, etc., as directed.
• Refer serious discipline problems to the site supervisor.
• Attend all staff meetings and training sessions related to an afterschool program.

Other Duties

Performs any other related duties as assigned by the site supervisor.

Job Specifications

• The candidate must possess a high school diploma.
• The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills.
• The candidate must build positive relationships with students and parents of students in the program.
• The candidate must possess knowledge of the physical, mental, and emotional development of young children.
• The candidate must have a certification in Red Cross first aid and CPR/AED.
• The candidate must have a positive attitude toward working with young children.

Physical Requirements

• Physically capable of lifting 40 lbs.
• Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students and to participate in activities.
• Able to be active for an extended period of time.
• Able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
