About the Role
Responsible for the supervision of students in the school’s extended care program. Supervise all activities that take place as part of the program and ensure the safety of each child attending the school’s extended care program.
Responsibilities
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service of the organization, including but not limited to client names and information, services rendered, donor names and gifts, investigations, and financial information.
- Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
- Takes a solution-oriented approach in interactions and undertakings, promoting collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
- Differentiates lessons and activities as needed for students of various ages and abilities.
- Prepares and gathers materials and supplies prior to programs daily.
- Assists and supervises children during all activities.
- Assists children with meal/snack time and clean-up; ensures site appearance, cleanliness, and a safe environment are maintained.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and site events as requested.
- Communicates appropriate information to parents; assists in enrollment, recording, and submitting daily attendance records and other required documents.
- Adheres to policies, procedures, and childcare guidelines, making the safety and care of children the primary focus.
- Builds positive relationships with each after-school participant and fosters connections between participants.
- Actively engages with children at all times to foster positive development.
- Interacts professionally with children, parents, school staff, community members, and partners.
- Effectively manages assigned group; maintains and enforces progressive discipline policy.
- Reports observations and incidents (e.g., discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior) to site coordinator or school principal.
- Participates in and evaluates the effectiveness of activities and events.
- Actively participates in staff development, including supervision, team meetings, orientation, and training.
- Completes all other relevant programmatic duties assigned by supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma with demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in working with school-age children and/or youth development.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and valid vehicle insurance.
- Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
- Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening.
