About the role

The SACC-Asst Group Leader is responsible for assisting the Group Leaders and Site Coordinators with planning, execution and overall operation of a high quality Afterschool site which will include promoting YMCA core values and encourage lifelong learning. Must be able to demonstrate high quality member service to both internal and external program participants, families, members, and volunteers. Reports to: Director-SACC.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in planning and execution of programs to meet the needs of the Afterschool site and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Assist in compliance in all related areas including the Department of Early Education & Care (EEC) licensing procedures and regulations, assist in working towards increased Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS) levels as determined by program’s goals and promote YUSA Healthy Eating Physical Activity (HEPA) standards and follow all criteria for CACFP food program.
  • Provide reasonable accommodations to allow children with disabilities to participate in activities whenever possible and to meet each child’s individual needs according to EEC and ADA.
  • Supervise program participants in accordance with the organization's policies, EEC regulations, applicable laws and QRIS Standards.
  • Monitor and communicate with supervisor all staff related EEC, QRIS, and South Shore YMCA requirements.
  • Build relationships with and among families and members, assist in responding to inquiries and solve problems.
  • Create a supportive community environment, assist in recruiting and engaging new families, and connect families to the YMCA’s cause.
  • Work with Afterschool Director, Site Coordinators, and Group Leaders to ensure that program facilities and equipment for children are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.
  • Assist in engaging and working with volunteers.
  • Assist in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engage in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.

Requirements

  • Experience with school age children and EEC regulations are preferred.
  • The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators are critical to this position.
  • The ability to interact with family needs/concerns in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values diversity.
  • Must meet EEC Educator Professional Development mandates to include at least one third of required trainings that address diverse learners.
  • PQ Registry must remain current and reflect all PD hours, trainings and college level courses.
