About the role

Play a key role in supporting consumers' recovery journeys by providing clinical leadership, expert mental health nursing care, and after‑hours support to staff across the Macquarie Hospital campus.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership, education and advanced clinical skills to nurses and consumers within Macquarie Hospital.
• Collaborate closely with the After Hours Nurse Manager (AHNM) to facilitate effective and efficient after‑hours service delivery across the whole campus.
• Contribute to the development of clinical practice, exercising extended autonomy of decision‑making and professional judgment in complex care.
• Lead the development of nursing specialty clinical practice and service delivery across Macquarie Hospital Nursing Services.
• Support nursing staff through constant communication, ensuring appropriate responses to situations involving staff and consumers.
• Uphold recognised professional and organisational standards established by NSW Health, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and NSLHD.
• Promote person‑centred, evidence‑based care, learning and enquiry.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse – Division 1 with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Relevant post‑registration qualifications in Mental Health.
• At least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of the specified post‑graduate qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision‑making within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.

Qualifications

• Post‑registration qualification in Mental Health nursing.
• Compliance with NSW Health, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and NSLHD standards.
• Completion of NSW Health OASV immunisation and screening requirements (including TB assessment).

Location

Macquarie Hospital, Northern Sydney Local Health District.
