Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise students in grades 1 through 6 during after school care hours, ensuring their safety and well being at all times
- Support a structured daily routine that includes homework time, physical activity, and creative play
- Build positive, encouraging relationships with students that reflect a Christian model of care and character
- Aid students with homework and academic tasks as needed
- Lead or assist with age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities
- Manage student check-in and check-out procedures, verifying authorized pickup and maintaining accurate daily attendance records
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding their child's day, including any concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe care space, including materials and supplies
- Enforce school behavior expectations consistently and with grace
- Respond appropriately to minor injuries or incidents and follow school protocol for reporting
- Collaborate with other After Care staff and elementary faculty to ensure a smooth transition from the school day into after care
- Support late pickup procedures in accordance with school policy
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; some college coursework or a degree in education, child development, or a related field preferred
- Prior experience working with elementary age children in a school, childcare, or camp setting preferred
- Genuine, personal Christian faith and a willingness to model that faith for students
- Strong communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to manage groups of children with patience, warmth, and firm, consistent boundaries
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to pass a background check
Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds
- Ability to respond quickly to student needs, including in the event of an emergency

KCC is a faith-based K through 12 school, and every staff member is expected to support and reinforce the school's Christian mission in daily interactions with students and families. This role is often a student's first and last interaction of the school day, making it a meaningful opportunity for spiritual encouragement and consistent, caring presence.
Schedule
Part-time, Monday through Friday, approximately 3:00 to 6:00 PM on full school days, following the KCC academic calendar and quarterly registration structure.
