After Care Associate

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise students in grades 1 through 6 during after school care hours, ensuring their safety and well being at all times
• Support a structured daily routine that includes homework time, physical activity, and creative play
• Build positive, encouraging relationships with students that reflect a Christian model of care and character
• Aid students with homework and academic tasks as needed
• Lead or assist with age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities
• Manage student check-in and check-out procedures, verifying authorized pickup and maintaining accurate daily attendance records
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding their child's day, including any concerns
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe care space, including materials and supplies
• Enforce school behavior expectations consistently and with grace
• Respond appropriately to minor injuries or incidents and follow school protocol for reporting
• Collaborate with other After Care staff and elementary faculty to ensure a smooth transition from the school day into after care
• Support late pickup procedures in accordance with school policy

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college coursework or a degree in education, child development, or a related field preferred
• Prior experience working with elementary age children in a school, childcare, or camp setting preferred
• Genuine, personal Christian faith and a willingness to model that faith for students
• Strong communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues
• Ability to manage groups of children with patience, warmth, and firm, consistent boundaries
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass a background check

Physical Requirements

• Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds
• Ability to respond quickly to student needs, including in the event of an emergency

This role is often a student's first and last interaction of the school day, making it a meaningful opportunity for spiritual encouragement and consistent, caring presence.

Schedule

Part-time, Monday through Friday, approximately 3:00 to 6:00 PM on full school days, following the KCC academic calendar and quarterly registration structure.
