About the role
This role provides an opportunity to combine technical skills with strategic thinking to impact national defense and combat weapon system design. As a systems engineer, you will assess and evaluate combat weapon systems using computer-based analytical tools, including the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, or Modeling (AFSIM), MATLAB, and in-house post-processing tools. Your work will help determine system attributes and operational tactics to improve defense capabilities and inform investment decisions for future combat systems.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the AFSIM analytical framework to conduct operational analyses for defense-related projects.
- Assess and evaluate combat weapon systems, including U.S. and foreign aircraft and ground-based air defense systems.
- Leverage problem-solving to overcome engineering or code development challenges.
- Distill, summarize, and articulate complex technical insights and findings.
- Work in a dynamic team environment.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience utilizing the AFSIM analytical framework to conduct operational analyses.
- Experience performing operational analyses for defense-related projects.
- Knowledge of U.S. and foreign combat weapon systems, including aircraft and ground-based air defense systems.
- Ability to distill, summarize, and articulate complex technical insights and findings.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience using AFSIM for mission modeling.
- 2+ years of experience with data analytics or software development in an academic or professional environment.
- Experience with the Linux operating environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Master's degree in a STEM field.
