Afloat Engineer Technician

We’re looking for talented Engineering Technicians to join our Marine Engineering Support Team in Chesapeake, VA.

Responsibilities

• Visit vessels pier side to perform SAMM software installation and configuration
• Request support from technical service centers when onsite procedures fail to solve installation or maintenance problems
• Diagnose and resolve software configuration problems in remote locations
• Assist in developing and updating training material and guides
• Provide one-on-one shipboard training on programs and systems being installed
• Respond to help calls
• Adhere to all safety and quality policies
• Perform additional duties to assist in other departments as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma and technical training; undergraduate level education in Information Technology or Marine Engineering is advantageous but not required
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance
• Working knowledge of computers/computer networks and Microsoft operating systems
• Ability to perform work onboard ships while underway but usually performed pier side
• Ability to travel local, domestic, and internationally up to 50% of the time (generally for 1-week durations, depending on location)
• Ability to climb ladders
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs., sit and/or stand for long periods of time

Qualifications

• CompTIA Security+ (will assist qualified applicants to achieve)
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Experience with software installation
• Current Passport
• Strong research, problem solving, and analytical skills
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly
• Strong verbal, written, and communication skills
• Sailing or Shipyard experience desired, but not required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
