About the role
We are hiring an experienced Aerospace Technical Documentation Specialist to support engineering, testing, and documentation activities in a regulated aerospace environment. This role combines hands-on technical work with the creation and maintenance of detailed technical documentation for manufacturing, testing, and maintenance operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on work including mechanical assembly, wiring, bench testing, calibration, inspections, and functional verification of aerospace components and subsystems
- Set up and support test activities, collect and analyze data, document results, and maintain test equipment
- Develop, update, and maintain technical documentation, including:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Test procedures and reports
- Maintenance instructions and work cards
- Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
- Installation and troubleshooting guides
- Materials and Process (M&P) documentation
- Prepare documentation that complies with industry standards and quality requirements, including FAA, EASA, AS9100, DO-178, and DO-254 where applicable
- Convert engineering specifications and test data into clear technical documentation for engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality personnel to ensure documentation remains accurate and current
- Assist with root cause investigations and prepare technical summaries and corrective action documentation
- Maintain calibration records, spare parts inventory, and laboratory safety documentation
- Support certification activities and audits by organizing controlled documents and technical records
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, technical diploma, or equivalent certification in Aerospace Engineering Technology, Avionics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- At least 3 years of experience in aerospace, aviation, or avionics as an Engineering Technician or similar technical role
- Experience writing technical procedures, maintenance documents, and test reports in a regulated industry
- Knowledge of FAA, EASA, AS9100, DO-178, DO-254, ATA iSpec 2200, or similar aerospace standards
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, wiring, harness fabrication, soldering, bench testing, and test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, torque tools, and calipers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems such as SharePoint, Windchill, Teamcenter, or other PDM/PLM platforms
- Experience with MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar technical authoring software is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting certification projects or regulatory audits
- Knowledge of avionics systems, schematic interpretation, and basic circuit troubleshooting
- Familiarity with configuration management and document revision control
- Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one, if required
Pay
Starting at $40.00/hour (higher pay available based on experience)
