Aerospace Quality Inspector ( Certification - IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001 )

Location: Severn, MD 21144 – 1st shift (5 days/40 hours per week), 12-month contract with potential extension. US Citizens or Permanent Residents only.

About the Role

Inspector responsible for visual and instrumental in-process and final inspection of electronic units, precision electromechanical assemblies, mechanical subassemblies, and aerospace components. Works closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support prototype builds, New Product Integration (NPI), and production runs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect in-process and completed products using predetermined methods, operations, setups, and specifications.
• Identify and reject malfunctioning units or systems based on blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
• Use measuring devices such as dial indicators, micrometers, scales, and fixtures to verify product quality.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• Perform hands-on inspection of electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), electronic assemblies, fabricated mechanical parts, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Understand and follow engineering and quality documentation, including drawings, blueprints, process flow charts, manufacturing travelers, and work instructions.
• Use electro/mechanical hand-held inspection equipment and microscopes/magnifiers for detailed inspection.
• Contribute to performance metric reporting and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
• Support prototype builds and new product/process introduction with highly detailed in-process and final inspection activities.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Technology with 5 years of Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing Quality Assurance Engineering experience or 5 years of Aerospace/NASA Industry Quality inspection experience.
• Certification in relevant workmanship standards, such as:
  • IPC-A-610
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 with space addendum
  • J-STD-001 with space addendum
  • NASA-STD-8739.1
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and acceptance criteria for aerospace components, including cable harnesses, mechanical assemblies, PCB assemblies, and soldering.

Desired Qualifications

• Previous work experience in a Quality Inspection role supporting Aerospace/NASA programs.
• Experience identifying process and product yield trends.
• Ability to tailor level of effort based on customer requirements and expectations.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Understanding of AS9100 Quality Management System requirements.
• Experience working in a manufacturing and engineering lab environment, including adherence to cleanliness requirements (e.g., lab coats, additional gear).
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressures.
• Strong teamwork and cooperation skills, collaborating with staff, company members, and customers.

Pay

$36.88 per hour (W2).
