Responsibilities
- Review complex accession medical records and waiver requests.
- Apply DAFMAN 48-123, DoDI 6130.03, Air Force Waiver Guide, and related guidance.
- Provide expert recommendations regarding accession eligibility.
- Collaborate with Aerospace Medical Technicians and Clinical Psychologists.
- Participate in policy interpretation and implementation.
- Prepare medical summaries and consultation reports.
- Cook up with military treatment facilities and specialty consultants.
- Support enterprise-level aerospace medicine initiatives and special projects.
- Maintain accurate documentation and timely case processing.
Requirements
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- A current unrestricted U.S. medical license.
- A Board Certification in Aerospace Medicine, Occupational Medicine, Preventive Medicine, or another specialty meeting Air Force requirements.
- Minimum three (3) years serving as an Active Duty Military Flight Surgeon within the past fifteen (15) years.
- Experience applying military medical standards for accession, flying, and special operational duty evaluations.
Qualifications
- MAJCOM or enterprise-level aerospace medicine experience preferred.
- Previous experience reviewing medical waivers preferred.
- Experience developing or interpreting Air Force medical policy preferred.
- Prior operational medicine leadership experience preferred.
