Aerospace Medicine Specialist Physician (Flight Surgeon)

Responsibilities

• Review complex accession medical records and waiver requests.
• Apply DAFMAN 48-123, DoDI 6130.03, Air Force Waiver Guide, and related guidance.
• Provide expert recommendations regarding accession eligibility.
• Collaborate with Aerospace Medical Technicians and Clinical Psychologists.
• Participate in policy interpretation and implementation.
• Prepare medical summaries and consultation reports.
• Cook up with military treatment facilities and specialty consultants.
• Support enterprise-level aerospace medicine initiatives and special projects.
• Maintain accurate documentation and timely case processing.

Requirements

• A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• A current unrestricted U.S. medical license.
• A Board Certification in Aerospace Medicine, Occupational Medicine, Preventive Medicine, or another specialty meeting Air Force requirements.
• Minimum three (3) years serving as an Active Duty Military Flight Surgeon within the past fifteen (15) years.
• Experience applying military medical standards for accession, flying, and special operational duty evaluations.

Qualifications

• MAJCOM or enterprise-level aerospace medicine experience preferred.
• Previous experience reviewing medical waivers preferred.
• Experience developing or interpreting Air Force medical policy preferred.
• Prior operational medicine leadership experience preferred.
