Aerospace Material Planner

Mission

The Material Planner ensures that appropriate amounts of materials are purchased to complete projects. They receive plans and information from other departments to determine necessary materials and coordinate with buyers to ensure accurate and timely delivery. Inventory management is overseen, and they have knowledge of the Aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

• Receive plans and information from other departments to determine necessary materials.
• Coordinate with buyers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of ordered materials.
• Oversee inventory management of materials.
• Modify production schedules as needed due to process changes or other factors.
• Coordinate with expediters within a large and complex computerized inventory system.
• Enter data or information into a computer system using a keyboard device.
• Communicate with production control staff and vendors.
• Develop and maintain records and reports for the reconciliation of material inventories.
• Ensure inventory system file security through limited access to main programs.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
• Work cooperatively with other employees and the public.
• Comprehend and make inferences from written material in the English language.
• Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper English sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

Requirements

• General computer and office skills including Excel, Word are mandatory.
• A degree in business, supply chain, or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
• APICS (CPIM) certification is preferred.
• Three to five (3-5) years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 9000, JIT, project management techniques, and manufacturing of airline seats is beneficial.
• Experience managing business crises or short timelines.
• Ability to work under uncertainty or unpredictability.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend documentation in the English language.
• Ability to read component maintenance manuals (CMM’s).
