About the role
Develops and implements a sales plan to achieve annual sales targets within a specific sales region. Partners with customers to generate new applications within the MAPAL product line, presenting and demonstrating value-added solutions.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and interacts with the customer plant and MAPAL to troubleshoot customer challenges and optimize processes.
- Documents troubleshooting processes to build a library and training materials.
- Liaises between the engineer at the customer site, customer service, manufacturing, and engineering to address changes and optimize performance.
- Instructs and trains customers on the implementation of cutting tools supplied.
- Solves cutting tool issues on the customer's floor and reports findings, recommending changes as required.
- Accountable for all assigned product line testing, reporting, and closing out of test tool processes, coordinating with MAPAL teams including Finance.
- Recommends speeds and feeds for cycle times and tool life, ensuring manufacturability.
- Provides and shares technical documentation and data, such as approval and final drawings, tooling examples, machine data, etc.
- Resolves performance or design issues encountered on the customer site and instructs and trains as required on the utilization and application of tooling supplied.
- Maintains contact with customers and MAPAL for technical requirements and needs, utilizing engineering and past application knowledge to process applications.
- Analyzes customer requirements for producing parts, considering quality of holes or surfaces, SPC requirements, and tolerances.
- Interacts with customers to generate new applications within the MAPAL product line and suggests other products for tooling packages.
- Resolves tooling issues on the customer’s floor and reports findings, recommending changes as required.
Requirements
- Education, experience, military or training equivalent to a 2-4 year degree program in a technical discipline or Development/Pipeline program.
- 4-5 years cutting tooling application experience through hands-on learning.
- Understanding of the complete machining process by product line is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with metal cutting principles/processes, including power, thrust, balance, microfinishes, geometries within aerospace and defense machining environments, and/or aerostructure assembly.
Qualifications
- Strong work ethic; self-motivated; independent and capable of planning, organizing, and making decisions.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including both verbal and written, with persuasive and value-selling abilities.
- Expertise on product line details and operation, ensuring product performance, customer focus, and solutions orientation.
- Ability to travel up to 50% to perform optimization and troubleshooting within the sales region.
Skills
- Technical support for internal and external teams (technical contact to internal design department and affiliated companies).
- Manual drilling/reaming, ADU drilling/reaming, CAM Programming, 2D and 3D CAD Drafting, aerostructure design background.
- Project management professional certification, leadership skills.
