Aeronautics Engineer 3
Job Description
An opportunity is available for an Aeronautics Engineer 3 to support the Mechanical & Energetics Department. In this role, you will contribute to the Advanced Programs product line, focusing on missile system development. This position is located on-site in Chandler, Arizona.
- Design major components or portions of a missile system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing.
- Develop basic data and create preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
- Investigate design factors such as structural integrity, thermal performance, manufacturability, material availability, and cost.
- Cook with other organizations affected by design development.
- Create layouts of complex assemblies and detailed parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
- Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, and conformity to standards.
- Design, develop, and test missiles and parts, considering the efficient use of natural laws affecting flight.
- Establish structural specifications, perform stress analysis, and conduct performance tests.
Requirements
Proficiency in an advanced 3D CAD package, preferably Siemens NX.
Demonstrated ability to generate engineering drawings for procurement, including Design For Manufacture (DFM) and application of GD&T.
Ability to apply first-order structural analysis (hand calculations) to support product design.
High mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience working on mechanical systems.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams to meet a common goal.
A good understanding of material science as it applies to aerospace metallic materials.
Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Advanced training or certification in GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
Machine shop experience programming or operating mills/lathes for aerospace hardware.
A good understanding of material science as it applies to aerospace composite and non-metallic materials.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
Skills

Pay
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually.
Schedule
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with standard business hours.
