Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prioritize equity and inclusion by reflecting and understanding identities and power dynamics.
- Build an inclusive environment where clients and employees feel embraced, respected, engaged, and safe.
- Schedule and support after-hours shelter team, share rotating on-call responsibility, monitor operations, assist with personnel issues, and facilitate training.
- Provide advocacy and assistance for shelter clients, document contacts, assess needs, make referrals, organize activities, and support clients in accessing services.
- Assist clients with transportation needs and provide backup transportation services.
- Support overall department and organizational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with nonprofits and direct client services, or equivalent combination of experience and/or special skills.
- Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of social justice issues, specifically intimate partner and gender-based domestic and sexual violence, and racial, class, gender, and sexual orientation issues.
- Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, excellent organizational skills, strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work.
- Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, and changing environment with frequent deadlines.
- Experience applying an equitable analysis to duties and demonstrating DVIS’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.
- Ability to demonstrate good listening skills, engage clients in assessment, problem-solving, and goal-setting, and knowledge of community resources.
- Crisis intervention and case management skills.
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license; current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
