- Provides support, guidance and programmatic supervision to volunteers assigned to advocate in Family Court through the South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program.
- Supports office functions necessary for effective volunteer advocacy and assists with recruiting and training new volunteers.
- Inputs program information as needed into the database for tracking county statistical information.
- Must be computer literate, have strong verbal and writing skills, and possess a strong ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Data input experience and good time management skills are essential.
- Exercises sound and objective judgment.
- Establishes and maintains productive and effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Extensive knowledge of policies, procedures and applicable laws, case management and advocacy.
- Investigates and formulates recommendations for the safety and permanency of children involved in abuse/neglect cases.
- Sets up volunteers for children in cases of child abuse/neglect; provides supervision and support to volunteers to ensure compliance with law, policy and program's objectives regarding the best interest of the children.
- Attends hearings with volunteers as required and appropriate.
- Maintains accurate child and case specific information in the database; coordinates the receipt of monthly monitoring reports (MMR) and inputs data into the database while maintaining a tracking system of monthly monitoring reports received.
- Aids in training new and existing volunteers according to program guidelines.
- Aids in recruiting a diverse and sufficient pool of volunteers so that all cases can be assigned to a volunteer and maintains policy guidelines regarding case assignments to staff and volunteers.
- Performs administrative functions for the county office that promote effective and efficient achievement of program goals and objectives.
- Completes any special assignments or tasks as assigned by County Director.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR).
- Additional Requirements: Position may require overnight travel. Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends. Position requires routine driver duties. Position requires frequent lifting: 25 lbs. Position requires non-essential declaration. Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.
- Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is preferred.
