About the role
The Advocacy Coordinator will oversee the academic enrichment and support components of the After-School programs at Harlem Children's Zone, ensuring that students receive the necessary mentorship, academic support, social-emotional support, career readiness, college prep, life skills, and multicultural exposures to prepare them for college and careers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years of experience working in an educational, case management, social work, or community service setting
- 1 year of supervisory/management experience

What You'll Do
- Work one-on-one with students to understand the diversity of needs for academic resources
- Oversee work with school partners and parents while collaborating with other site staff
- Supervise Student Advocates and tutors to assess students' needs, and develop and implement plans to meet those needs
- Maintain statistical data for all education-related activities, such as student participation and tutor hours dedicated to education activities
- Review the educational history of students to evaluate academic performance and learning characteristics
- Cookordinate, develop, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of the IEP for students
- Prepare reports and updates as required and continuously evaluate program impact
- Review and use of data to make informed decisions around the education component program improvements
- Develop long-term and short-term plans/programs to meet instructional objectives
- Attend and contribute to case management meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule
- Peacemaker Program: 10 AM - 6 PM
- Promise Academy, After School: 11 AM - 7 PM
- Zone High School After-School: Mon-Thurs, 12 PM - 8 PM, Friday, 10 AM - 6 PM
- A Cut Above: 11 AM- 7 PM
- Summer Hours (all sites): Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000, with a comprehensive benefits package including employer-covered health insurance.
