About the role
The Lenovo Design Innovation Team is creating a new generation of AI Ambient devices—products that move beyond traditional screens and interact through presence, context, intelligence, and behavior. We are looking for a designer who can help define how AI lives in the physical world.
Responsibilities
- Define the industrial design vision and ecosystem language for AI Ambient products across home and personal environments
- Shape how AI is physically expressed through form, CMF, and spatial interaction
- Collaborate closely with UX, AI, software, and hardware teams to build cohesive AI-native experiences
- Collaborate on screen/screenless interaction models that combine physical, visual, spatial, and behavioral feedback
- Translate emerging AI behaviors into intuitive and emotionally resonant physical interactions
- Help establish future-facing design principles for ambient AI devices
Requirements
- Strong industrial design portfolio demonstrating both visionary thinking and shipped products
- Ability to think at ecosystem and experience level—not only individual products
- Strong sensitivity to form, proportion, CMF, and physical interaction
- Strong visualization and prototyping skills including 3D CAD, rendering, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with tools such as Figma or interaction prototyping workflows
- Understanding of how hardware, software, and AI behaviors connect into a unified user experience
- Experience leading design direction across cross-functional teams
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to align teams and build relationships across functions and organizations
- Experience leading products from concept through engineering development and mass production
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex technology into compelling user-centered visions
Qualifications
- Nice-to-have: Experience with AI, smart home, robotics, or ambient computing products
- Nice-to-have: Understanding of multimodal interaction systems including voice, gesture, and context-aware interaction
- Nice-to-have: Experience collaborating with global teams and ODM partners
- Nice-to-have: Passion for exploring new relationships between humans and intelligent systems
- Nice-to-have: Interest in bridging physical design with software experiences and AI behaviors
- Nice-to-have: Understanding of digital product workflows and software-driven experiences
