Advisor, Stakeholder Engagement

About the role

The Advisor, Stakeholder Engagement position is a key member of the Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability (PACS) team at Enbridge. Reporting to the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement, you will play a crucial role in building and nurturing relationships with community stakeholders, supporting Enbridge's energy infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Build and nurture relationships with community stakeholders.
• Develop and execute project engagement strategies that capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks for infrastructure projects.
• Lead or assist with crafting, implementing, and managing engagement plans, messaging, and budgets.
• Provide timely advice and counsel to internal audiences on local community interests, cultural awareness, relationship management, partnership opportunities, negotiations, issue management, and risk and opportunity assessments.
• Share regional knowledge and expertise with internal audiences.
• Lead planning and execution of project media and communications strategies, including interaction with local media outlets, development of internal briefing materials, and drafting of messaging and materials.
• Plan and manage project budgets and other resources with attention to cost efficiency and responsible stewardship of resources.
• Periodically serve as the weekly on-call Public Information Officer on standby for 24/7 crisis communications response.

Requirements

• University degree from a related post-secondary program.
• 4+ years of directly related work experience, preferably in the energy sector.
• Demonstrates integrity, safety, inclusion, respect, and a high-performance approach, with the resilience, adaptability, confidence, and initiative to work independently or collaboratively in fast-paced, demanding environments.
• Knowledge of relationship building and community engagement best practices, infrastructure permitting practices, regulatory requirements, community dynamics, Indigenous/Tribal history and culture.
• Excels at building positive relationships with stakeholders, employees, contractors, partners, and external partners through strong communication, consultation, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong analytical, research, organizational, and communication capabilities and attention to detail.
• Maintains big-picture focus and prioritizes projects, deadlines, and engagement to support organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Valid passport is required.
• A valid driver's license and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required which will be validated before hire.
• The job involves grasping, kneeling, and lifting items up to 20 pounds with light to moderate effort.
• Requires reaching above the shoulder, repetitive movements, typing, sitting, and standing.
• Visual skills such as screen viewing, color detection, and reading small print are necessary.
• Hearing ability and prolonged computer sitting are also essential.
• Mental requirements encompass but are not limited to: Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral or written instructions or information. Collaborate to explore alternative solutions for complex problems. Organize thoughts into clear terms. Prioritize and manage work schedules short-term. Make decisions with moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor broader effects. Follow basic instructions and guidelines. Complete routine forms and write letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports. Communicate with individuals on the phone.

Pay

Ranges from $90,000 – $115,000 USD starting annual salary based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity. Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.

Schedule

Office environment. Moderate travel (~40%) to field asset environments, involves external-facing relationships and participation.
