Advertising Director, York County

About the role

The Advertising Director is a sales leader charged with driving retail advertising revenue growth for The Post and Courier's York County expansion, a new digital and print startup. This highly customer-facing role focuses on new business development through client acquisition and sales initiatives, meeting or exceeding advertising revenue budgets, and building deep relationships with key advertising clients.

Responsibilities

• Achieve monthly and annual revenue goals, growing total revenue creatively and rapidly.
• Drive new business development and incremental account growth in the York County DMA through cold calling, cold emails, client needs assessments, and long-term partnership presentations.
• Plan and execute creative sales strategies for events, promotions, and digital advertising campaigns.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of digital marketing offerings, including PPC, social, streaming TV, streaming audio, SEO, and website development.
• Input client/prospect information and sales activity into HubSpot CRM; use HubSpot for pipeline management and sales activity/SOP management.
• Participate in the advertising department budgeting cycle for The Post and Courier–York County.
• Represent The Post and Courier–York County at community and business meetings to engage with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field (preferred).
• 3–5 years of marketing or media sales experience.
• Proven ability to meet revenue goals.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to present research and proposals clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in digital skills, including social media, digital analytics, and understanding of digital market trends.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must reside in the York County, SC DMA.
