Adventure Park Medical Responder - Level One, Two or Three

About the Role

This hourly, seasonal position ensures the safety of Frisco Adventure Park and Frisco Nordic Center guests and staff by providing emergency response, maintaining emergency equipment, enforcing safety rules, patrolling terrain, and performing safety inspections and maintenance.

There are three levels to the Medical Responder position (I, II, III). The level offered will be based on your interview and relevant experience.

Medical Responders typically work 10-hour shifts covering medical incidents related to the Frisco Adventure Park Tubing Hill, Railpark, Ski Hill, and Nordic Center guests.

Responsibilities

• Proactively patrol terrain including Frisco Adventure Park and Nordic Center operations (Tubing Hill, Ski/Ride Hill, Terrain Park, Nordic Center Trails).
• Enforce safety practices and operating rules and regulations.
• Conduct terrain inspections and ensure all logs are completed correctly.
• Provide exceptional guest service with clear communication and professionalism.
• Be knowledgeable in Adventure Park and Nordic Center operations, offerings, programs, and events.
• Provide medical response for on-site winter special events.
• Deliver guest-friendly safety briefings and proper lift loading/unloading procedures.
• Safely operate UTV and/or snowmobile at all times.
• Handle repetitive questions and scenarios with professionalism and courtesy.
• Inspect the Adventure Park for hazards, correct issues, and communicate changes to management.
• Assist in setting fencing and signage where appropriate.
• Provide emergency response to incidents and accidents; investigate and document them.
• Prepare and utilize emergency response equipment; maintain equipment and inventory.
• Conduct regular safety and emergency response drills.
• Remain alert to provide instructions to guests and anticipate problems requiring immediate stoppage of lifts or rope tows.
• Assist with opening and closing duties.
• Communicate with operations management verbally and in writing to resolve guest issues and ensure safety.
• Maintain personal grooming standards and uniform policies.
• Work in a team-based environment supporting the Adventure Park, Recreation Department, and Town of Frisco.
• Assist management with equipment repair and maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or other managerial staff.

Level-Specific Responsibilities

Medical Responder I

• Operate UTV.
• Patrol on skis and foot to enforce safe terrain use.
• Serve as the Lead medical responder in the event of a health emergency on-site.
• Coordinate daily medical response plan with full-time/year-round WFR staff.
• Provide basic emergency care to guests.

Medical Responder II

• Operate snowmobiles and UTVs.
• Patrol on skis and foot to enforce safe terrain use.
• Serve as the Lead medical responder in the event of a health emergency on-site.
• Coordinate daily medical response plan with full-time/year-round WFR staff.
• Provide advanced emergency care to guests.
• Lead staff medical response trainings and scenarios.

Medical Responder III

• Operate snowmobiles, UTVs, and Town vehicles.
• Patrol on skis and foot to enforce safe terrain use.
• Serve as the Lead medical responder in the event of a health emergency on-site.
• Coordinate daily medical response plan with full-time/year-round WFR staff.
• Lead staff medical response trainings and scenarios.
• Provide advanced emergency care to guests.
• Communicate with medical liaison as necessary.
• Ensure industry-standard medical protocol is implemented.
• Review and make recommendations to improve guest and terrain safety.

Requirements

Education

• All Levels: High School Diploma or GED (required).

Computer Operations

• All Levels: Medical reporting via tablet app or computer.

Licenses, Certifications, or Accreditations

• All Levels:
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification (or enrolled in a class to obtain it).
• Medical Responder I:
  • Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC).
• Medical Responder II:
  • Colorado certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT).
• Medical Responder III:
  • Colorado certified Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate (EMT-I) or Colorado certified Paramedic.

Previous Work Experience

• Medical Responder I:
  • None required.
  • Preferred: 1 year of guest service.
• Medical Responder II:
  • Required: 1 to 3 winter seasons of medical response or 1+ full year of medical response service.
  • Preferred: 1 winter season of ski area operations; 1 year of guest service.
• Medical Responder III:
  • Required: 4+ winter seasons of medical response or 2+ full years of medical response service.
  • Preferred: 1 year of guest service experience.

Other Requirements

• All Levels:
  • 18+ years of age to drive Town vehicle.
  • Advanced or higher downhill skiing ability in all terrain and conditions.
  • Advanced Nordic skiing abilities in all terrain and conditions.
  • Excellent public relations, communication skills, and high level of friendliness.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to function independently and make sound decisions without supervisory guidance.
• Medical Responder II & III:
  • 21+ years of age to tow utility trailer with Town vehicle.
