Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform all functions of the basic welder classification.
- Work from verbal instructions, prints, or work orders.
- Setup equipment, prepare surfaces to be welded, and weld parts.
- Use hand tools such as grinders, portable spot welder, hammers, screwdrivers, vise clamps, fixtures, and jigs.
- Read and layout parts to complex prints and plan working procedures.
- Perform complex welds, including cavity welds and non-pressure boilers.
- May perform additional duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Additional Responsibilities
- Keep work area clean, neat, and orderly.
- Maintain inventory of parts used in the area.
- Report all accidents/injuries to the department supervisor immediately.
- Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Train basic welders.

- Type: Rarely (0-12%)
- Sitting: Occasionally (12-33%)
- Standing/Walking: Frequently (34-66%)
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Regularly (67-100%)
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Regularly (67-100%)
Working Conditions
- General plant environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and layout parts to prints.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to demonstrate ability to weld complex welds.
- TIG experience and passing an internal welding test.
- Completion of the Career Readiness Certification.
Education And Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
