About the role
The Advanced Systems Administration Specialist position at General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc., supports the company’s cyber initiatives. This role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining secure infrastructures, both physical and virtual, across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, build, and test new system infrastructure solutions
- Address technical issues and conduct systems analysis
- Ensure systems remain current with evolving technologies
- Perform vulnerability scanning and system remediation
- Update antivirus software to maintain security and compliance
- Implement security measures to ensure system availability
- Monitor system performance, manage backups, and implement security measures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering or related field, or Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge of RedHat Linux, Windows Server, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and/or application environments
- Experience with implementing Linux/Windows security controls to maintain system compliance (STIGs, CIS Benchmarks)
- Subject matter expertise in researching and troubleshooting complex technical issues
- In-depth knowledge of networking concepts and backup solutions
- Familiarity with compliance controls: STIGs/CIS Benchmarks, NIST SP 800-171/800-53, CMMC, System Security Plans
- Experience working within a change management system
- Highly proficient problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of RedHat Linux, Windows Server, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and/or application environments
- Ability to architect, deploy, and continuously maintain secure, reliable, and flexible best practice infrastructures and systems
- Experience with implementing Linux/Windows security controls to maintain system compliance (STIGs, CIS Benchmarks)
- Subject Matter Expert in researching and troubleshooting complex technical issues
- Familiarity with compliance controls: STIGs/CIS Benchmarks, NIST SP 800-171/800-53, CMMC, System Security Plans
- Experience working within the requirements of a change management system
- In-depth knowledge of networking concepts and backup solutions
- In-depth knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery strategies
- Highly proficient problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
Skills
- Familiarity with developer tools/concepts/scripting/methodologies - JIRA, Confluence, GitLab, Docker, Ansible, Python, Powershell, Bash
- Familiarity with Tenable Nessus, Splunk
- Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) Experience
- Endpoint Security Solution (ESS) Experience
- Ability to engineer with system security as number one priority
- Ability to quickly grasp and adopt new technologies while continuously developing yourself
- Handle all levels of support with ability to collaborate and communicate with those of varying levels of technical skill
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills from a variety of viewpoints
- Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
