Advanced Supplier Development Manager

About the role

This position is responsible for ensuring engineering requirements align with process capabilities to achieve defect-free launches. You will lead and coordinate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) across various departments to prepare for product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier APQP efforts in collaboration with Purchasing, Engineering, and Program Management for new product programs.
  • Work with suppliers, Program Management, Supplier Quality Managers, Product Planning, Engineering, Purchasing, PACCAR Technical Center, and PACCAR Plants to meet PACCAR requirements for APQP and launch.
  • Interface with Engineering, Technical Center, Purchasing, and Suppliers to resolve discrepancies in product specifications and ensure consistent manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement program and part-specific timing plans to meet PPAP targets for pre-production builds and launches.
  • Represent Supplier Quality in identifying, mitigating risks, and escalating issues impacting supplier readiness for production and program launches.
  • Support timely and comprehensive reporting of supplier program readiness.
  • Perform on-site evaluations of supplier capabilities to meet PACCAR quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enhance overall performance, identify, communicate, document, and close corrective actions and development needs.
  • Participate in global Supplier Quality process standardization teams.
  • Approximately 10-25% travel depending on business conditions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Manufacturing) and/or other technical discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean.
  • Strong working knowledge of APQP, including Design Reviews, PPAP, Process Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOE, SPC, GD&T, Corrective Actions Processes: ability to interpret and understand complex drawings.
  • Minimum 7 years professional experience, with at least 5 years in commercial vehicle/automotive quality engineering.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness leading and collaborating with cross-functional global teams.
  • Demonstrated drive to complete assignments on time, deliver requirements, and meet goals.
