About the role
The Sourcing Engineer I supports the connection between Technology & Development Engineering, Category Management, PLC Project Management, and external suppliers. This role leverages their engineering background and technical experience in materials, design, and manufacturing methods to assist with early supplier involvement, supplier discovery, cost and technical studies, and proposal support aligned to technology roadmaps and category strategies.
Responsibilities
- Technical Problem Solving: Analyzes and resolves complex material, design, and manufacturing sourcing engineering challenges by applying advanced technical knowledge and innovative solutions.
- Should Cost: Technical analysis of materials, design, and manufacturing processes to develop estimated cost structures used by Sourcing Managers in negotiations, and NPI CTC development.
- Project Leadership: Leads small-scale sourcing projects, coordinating resources and managing timelines to ensure successful execution and delivery.
- Cross Team Collaboration: Partners with internal teams and external subject matter experts to integrate sourcing strategies and optimize engineering processes.
- Knowledge Sharing: Acts as a resource for colleagues by providing guidance, training, and expertise in advanced sourcing engineering practices.
- Market Analysis: Evaluates industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and enhance the organization's sourcing strategies and market position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred and 4+ years of relevant experience
- 10–20% travel to suppliers, trade shows, and other company sites as needed
