About the Role
The Advanced Sonographer operates imaging equipment and software proficiently, primarily ultrasound equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires a thorough understanding of imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety and maintaining imaging standards. Responsibilities include serving as lead when direct leadership is unavailable, acting as an expert resource, and assisting in training. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for providing optimal care.
Responsibilities
- Operate imaging equipment, primarily ultrasound, to produce diagnostic images.
- Ensure patient safety and maintain imaging standards and protocols.
- Serve as lead in the absence of direct leadership.
- Act as an expert resource for colleagues and assist in training.
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Recognize technical abnormalities in diagnostic images.
- Adjust protocols as needed and follow complex instructions.
- Adhere to quality assurance protocols and accreditation standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of a school of Sonography with completed required clinical hours.
- 2 years of relevant experience.
- State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
- Certifications/Registries: ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI, plus 3 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the work area OR 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications with 5 years of applicable experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

- Thorough understanding of protocols with the ability to make adjustments as needed.
- Knowledge of advanced or invasive procedures, if applicable.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
