Advanced Product Engineer
About the role
As an Advanced Product Engineer for AMTPP (focus on Aerospace) within the Central TEBG Product Engineering organization, you will collaborate with innovative 3Mers around the world. This role provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career.
Responsibilities
- Lead programs to improve quality, reduce costs, qualify alternate source-of-supply, and expand product offerings to continue strong growth in the 3M Aerospace & Defense business.
- Lead, alongside cross-functional teams, key Change Management Projects (CMP) for existing products and product line extensions.
- Support the development and maintenance of existing and new products for aerospace sealants, structural adhesive pastes, and films within the Advanced Materials and Transportation Product Platform.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to drive implementation and launch.
- Support quality and plant teams in customer complaint resolution and product & process understanding (PPU).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
- Three (3) years of Product Engineering and/or Product Development experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Materials, Polymer, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years of product engineering, process engineering, project engineering, project management, and/or research laboratory experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Experience in the aerospace industry, including material qualification processes in this regulated market.
- Interpersonal skills, including working with plant professionals, global laboratory, and business team personnel.
- Experience with curable materials, including adhesives and sealants, and polysulfide, epoxy, and acrylic chemistry.
- Experience with coating processes, radiation processing, and/or extrusion processing.
- Experience in regulated product categories with expertise in product risk assessments, product safety, and product reliability.
Work Location & Travel
This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN. Travel may include up to 10% domestic/international.
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $98,964 - $120,957, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. The specific compensation offered may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and experience.
