About the role
The CNC Technician is responsible for setting up and operating CNC controlled generators, polishers, and/or sub-aperture processing machines (MRF or aspheric systems).
Responsibilities
- Enter machine parameters into the control system based on documented work instructions.
- Load and run workpieces, checking progress and making necessary adjustments to achieve acceptable results.
- Use precision gauges, test glasses, and laser interferometer to ensure finished parts meet specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment, including cleaning and pre-mixing polishing compounds.
- Prepare and maintain polishing tools and bevel parts as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to three months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills are beneficial.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Understanding and use of work instructions.
- Ability to solve common problems associated with the job.
Qualifications

- General understanding of the flow of parts.
- Bar coding to record flow of parts.
- Set up and shut down of CNC machines for each job.
- Work under moderate supervision.
- Understand and use work instructions.
- Adjust machines to produce parts according to specifications.
- Use test equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers.
- Set up and operate interferometers.
- Properly clean equipment daily.

- Good close vision for evaluating cosmetic defects.
- Attention to detail.
