Advanced Processing I CNC Technician

About the role

The CNC Technician is responsible for setting up and operating CNC controlled generators, polishers, and/or sub-aperture processing machines (MRF or aspheric systems).

Responsibilities

• Enter machine parameters into the control system based on documented work instructions.
• Load and run workpieces, checking progress and making necessary adjustments to achieve acceptable results.
• Use precision gauges, test glasses, and laser interferometer to ensure finished parts meet specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment, including cleaning and pre-mixing polishing compounds.
• Prepare and maintain polishing tools and bevel parts as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to three months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic computer skills are beneficial.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Understanding and use of work instructions.
• Ability to solve common problems associated with the job.

Qualifications

• General understanding of the flow of parts.
• Bar coding to record flow of parts.
• Set up and shut down of CNC machines for each job.
• Work under moderate supervision.
• Understand and use work instructions.
• Adjust machines to produce parts according to specifications.
• Use test equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers.
• Set up and operate interferometers.
• Properly clean equipment daily.

• Good close vision for evaluating cosmetic defects.
