Advanced Practiced Registered Nurse
About the role
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This role collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, evidence-based, and patient-centered care that addresses both clinical needs and underlying psychosocial factors. The Practitioner supports recovery, promotes stability, and improves overall health outcomes and quality of life for the individuals served.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations, psychosocial assessments and risk assessments.
- Diagnose mental health and substance use disorders in accordance with DSM5 criteria, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacologic and therapeutic interventions.
- Preserve psychiatric medications, assessing treatment response and adjusting dosages as clinically indicated.
- Provide supportive counseling, psychoeducation, and brief psychotherapy as appropriate to promote stabilization, engagement and adherence to treatment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including primary care providers, therapists, discharge planners, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and education sessions to support best practices and clinical excellence.
- Promote patient safety and adherence to ethical and legal standards of psychiatric care.
- Serve on a rotating oncall schedule to respond to urgent and emergent clinical situations, providing timely triage, assistance and realtime clinical consultation to facilities, mobile teams and internal staff.
- Consult with mobile assessment teams in acute care settings to support level of care and placement decisions.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative care team.
- Experience in integrated behavioral health, substance use treatment, or crisis intervention.
- Familiarity with evidence-based treatment models (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing).
- Comfort working with diverse populations, including unhoused population, Substance Abuse patients, and patients with mental illness.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of practice.
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNPBC) by the ANCC.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in behavioral/mental health settings required.

Pay
The starting salary range for this role is a reasonable estimate, with a goal to pay a competitive market salary focusing near the median of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education and certification, skills, and internal pay equity.
Schedule
We need a day shift role and night shift role (8am - 8pm or 8pm - 8am)!
