Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Baptist Cardiology
Responsibilities
- Affords patient assessments through interviews and chart reviews; evaluates presenting illness, risk factors, and family history; and conducts appropriate examinations.
- Orders or performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests as needed, consulting with physicians for evaluations of illnesses.
- Determines diagnoses and develops therapeutic plans, including identifying health risks.
- Prescribes and dispenses medications and/or injections in accordance with medical practice guidelines and state laws.
- Instructs and counsels patients on compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional issues, and health maintenance.
- Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and supports continuity of care.
- Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients, providing monitoring and continuity of care between visits, including triaging patient calls and emails.
- Functions in a "First Assist" capacity to physicians in the operating room, as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Compliance with state licensing board education requirements.
- Required Minimum Work Experience: 0-1 year relevant experience in developing and running patient care programs.
- Licenses and Certifications: Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse license from the State of Florida; BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS); ACLS Provider (ACLS).
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing, scientific rules and methods to solve problems, strong analytical and decision-making skills, ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients, proficiency in medical diagnostic equipment, Microsoft applications, insurance and medical terminology, coding, collections, and federal/state laws governing medical compliance, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and team skills.
