Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - ICU - Acute Care Certified - Night Shift - Full Time

About the role

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) at the University of Miami delivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. They examine and treat patients independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The APRN ensures proper illness and injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. They may prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, perform procedures, discuss cases with consultants, and advise patients about continuing care.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
• Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability.
• Maintains proper documentation and records.
• Aids in the provision of care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
• Makes appropriate referrals and facilitates staff, patient, and family decision-making.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care.
• Monitors the effectiveness of interventions and facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in relevant field.
• Valid State of Florida ARNP License.
• Acute Care certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
