Role Overview
Provides patient care in collaboration with physicians, demonstrating autonomy in evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. Orders and interprets tests, prescribes medications, and performs procedures within the scope of practice. Works closely with nursing, staff physicians, and other team members to manage patient care, including triage, telephone communications, and patient education.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose patients, developing and implementing treatment plans.
- Accurately document findings in electronic medical records, order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and prescribe evidence-based therapies.
- Adjust or discontinue medications as appropriate and report significant risks or concerns to the physician.
- Perform procedures within scope, communicate with team members and patients, and advocate for patient safety and education.
- Follow policies and guidelines to meet organizational goals and ensure quality care.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant studies required; Master's Degree preferred.
- Proficiency in patient assessment, diagnostics, and treatment planning.
- Strong communication skills, ethical practice, and ability to work collaboratively.
- Competence in performing procedures and interpreting test results.
Work Environment
Work is primarily in a clinical environment, with accountability for compliance with policies and continuous learning to enhance patient care.
