About the role

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Sleep Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP).

Department details

  • Practice alongside four Sleep Medicine physicians and four Sleep Medicine APPs
  • Cross collaboration with sleep ENT and Medical Weight Loss
  • American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) accredited center

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with sleep disorders (e.g., obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome)
  • Adjust PAP therapy, dose titration, and other treatment plans
  • Conduct outpatient follow-up visits and coordinate longitudinal care
  • Collaborate with sleep physicians and multidisciplinary teams on complex cases
  • Educate patients on diagnosis, treatment adherence, and lifestyle modifications
  • Help manage patient cohort related to weight-loss–linked sleep management, follow-ups, and repeat sleep studies
  • 5-day, 8-hour shift schedule, days only, Monday-Friday
  • Reports to the Division Administrator
  • 100% outpatient

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
  • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
  • Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
  • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications

Physician Assistant:

  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
  • Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience is preferred

Practice environment

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

Across the system, the APPs are supported by 4 levels of leadership, including 39 Lead APPs, three chief CRNAs, and a Senior Director of Advanced Practice Providers. Pay

Pay Range: $121,000 - $183,000
