Advanced Practice Provider- PA or NP
Brief Description
Provides patient care and (new and recheck visits). Maintains patient documentation. Performs and/or updates thorough histories. Performs and/or updates thorough physical exams. Orders/coordinates neurodiagnostic testing. Triages patient phone calls: discusses test results and follows up with patients. Presents patient to physician in a concise, complete, and thorough manner. Documents patient visits and notes in a standard format, emphasizing completeness, thoroughness, and formulation of diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, patient education, and follow-up. Provides patient/family education and follow-up. Organizes relevant educational materials and generates materials for patients/families. Presents and reviews materials with patients in a timely, concerned, thorough, understandable, and empathetic manner. Follows up with patients and their families to ensure understanding and retention of material. Provides supplementary materials, as necessary. Facilitates family conferences.

Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Certification and licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Experience in general neurology or internal medicine preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to relate to and engender confidence among patients, staff, and physicians
- Self-directed in performance of duties and self-educating in areas of deficiency
- Congenial demeanor with excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Analysis of clinical situations, drawing appropriate conclusions, and instituting appropriate measures
- Good reasoning and problem-solving abilities, acute intellect
- Ability to work in a stressful environment without impairment of functions or judgment
- Physical ability to assist patients through an examination
- Patient-centered, strong customer service orientation
