Job Description
The UofL Health Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join our emergency medicine team at UofL Health South Hospital.

Experience
Previous Emergency Medicine experience is required.
Assessment
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) assesses the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination and diagnostic studies for both inpatient and outpatient services. Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment.
Treatment and Communication
- Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up.
- Manages specialty clinic.
- Writes prescriptions for medication, blood tests, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies and therapeutic measures.
- Requests written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate and quality patient care.
- Interprets and evaluates findings of studies/tests.
- Relays appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
- Evaluates the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement.
- Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient.
- Participates in multidisciplinary conference and ensures appropriate, quality care.
- Provides symptom management for side effects related to oncologic treatment.
Documentation and Research
- Shares clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel.
- Documents and reports care in an accurate, timely manner.
- Works effectively with others.
- Collaborates with other health disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Promotes evidenced-based nursing practice/research by participating in clinical research and leading efforts in scientific inquiry.
Schedule and Call
- Variated schedule
- Mutually agreed upon call schedule
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Certification
- Master of Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current licensure in state of Kentucky as an APRN.
- Certification: National certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Current DEA certificate without restriction.
- Current BLS.
- Must be ACLS Certified.
