About the role

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the inpatient and outpatient setting. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at the Children's Wisconsin hospital campus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and care coordination with clinical work in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
  • Work as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team contributing to the care of pediatric patients with chronic and acute pain.
  • Collaborate with many subspecialties across the system in the role.
  • Teach NP students and/or fellows may occasionally occur.
  • Report to Medical Director of Pain Management.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
  • Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.
  • Previous APP pediatric specialty and/or mental health, experience preferred.
  • Open to new grads or experienced APP’s; experience with pediatric patient and as part of a multidisciplinary care team preferred.

Qualifications

  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • DEA registration.
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization.
  • Wisconsin RN License.
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License.

Skills

  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with pediatric patients.

Pay

Full-Time 1.0 FTE Salaried (Exempt)

Schedule

M-F, 40 hours with inpatient weekend coverage on rotational basis. Inpatient pain service coverage does include working some holidays. Potential for chronic pain call - home only.
