Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA): Hospital Medicine - Indian River

About the role

Cleveland Clinic Indian River is seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Hospital Medicine team. The APP will provide high-quality, evidence-based inpatient care in collaboration with hospitalists, specialists, surgeons, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team. The successful candidate will be cross-trained to support multiple service lines in the department including Admitting, Clinical Decision Unit and Behavioral Health Center.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop treatment plans for acutely ill adult patients.
• Manage the day-to-day care of hospitalized patients including admissions, rounding, consults, and discharges.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and initiate appropriate therapies.
• Document patient care clearly and efficiently in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families regarding patient status, treatment plans, and goals of care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and educational activities.
• Adhere to hospital protocols, safety policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage time effectively and respond to emergencies in a calm, competent manner.

Requirements

• Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s).
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by nationally accredited organization recognized by state Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP); or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) American Heart Association may be required based upon work setting.
• Must have arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with requirements set forth by the State Board of Nursing in applicable states.
• Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

Qualifications

• APRN: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role to an APRN licensed role.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN program.
• If in neonatal care service area Master’s Degree is required upon hire.
• PA: Graduate of an A.R.C. approved Physician Assistant Program. Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or higher degree obtained from a program recognized by their practicing states Licensing Board.
