About the role

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Neurology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care in the Neuromuscular Program within the Outpatient Clinic. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital, Specialty Clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
  • Provides comprehensive care to patients with Neuromuscular diagnoses.
  • PRACTICE IN AN INDEPENDENT OUTPATIENT CLINIC SETTING.
  • WORKS IN A VIBRANT ACADEMIC MEDICAL CENTER WITH ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT IN TEACHING AND MENTORING.
  • PARTICIPATES IN CASE CONFERENCES, GRAND ROUND, AND INTERDISCIPLINARY TEACHING SESSIONS.
  • REPORTS TO THE DIVISION ADMINISTRATOR, ADULT AMBULATORY.

Requirements

  • SCHEDULE APPROXIMATELY 8:00AM – 5:00PM MON-FRI NINE HALF DAYS (36 HOURS) OF CLINIC PER WEEK.
  • NO CALL/HOLIDAYS/WEEKENDS.
  • FULL-TIME.
  • SALEMIRED (EXEMPT).

Qualifications

  • Preferred Experience: New graduates welcome to apply, previous APP experience preferred. Previous Neuroscience experience preferred.
  • Minimum Education: Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization. Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.

Skills

  • Advanced Practice Nurse: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), DEA registration required.
  • Physician Assistant: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), DEA registration required. Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
